Five Week Scene Study Course


DESCRIPTION

This five-week course is designed for actors looking to deepen their understanding of scene work, strengthen their on-camera presence, and experiment with different acting techniques in a supportive environment. Each week focuses on a specific acting challenge, giving participants the opportunity to develop their craft through hands-on exercises and guided scene work. The goal is to provide practical tools that actors can take into any performance setting. Spaces for this workshop are extremely limited—only 6 spots are available and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligibility & Commitment Open to actors ages 14–30. Participants must be able to commit to all sessions throughout May—no exceptions. If you’re unsure about your availability, we recommend waiting for a future session. Workshop Overview: 📍 Location: Rose City Comedy Collective 📅 Dates: Thursday Evenings in May ⏰ Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM 🕘 Duration: 5 Sessions ​Course Breakdown: Week 1: The Confession Master emotional depth in scenes centered around secrets, betrayals, or life-changing moments. Week 2: Love Between Strangers Learn to create authentic chemistry in romantic scenes with an unfamiliar scene partner. Week 3: Villains Dive into the psychology of complex antagonists and bring authenticity to darker roles. Week 4: Urgency in a Scene Navigate high-stakes moments where intensity drives the action. Week 5: Monologue Finale Perform a monologue on camera, tailored to highlight your unique strengths. Perfect for your actor’s reel. Who Should Join? This workshop is ideal for actors aged 14-30 with some prior experience in front of a camera or on stage. It’s perfect for those who want to: Build a personal approach to preparing for scenes Strengthen on-camera performance and presence Gain confidence working with different scene partners Experiment with different acting techniques in a safe space ​Participants will develop: Communication Skills – Express yourself clearly and effectively Reading Comprehension – Analyze scripts with depth and nuance Memory & Focus – Strengthen recall and mental agility Confidence – Own your performance with presence and poise Emotional Intelligence – Connect with characters and real-life emotions Resilience – Learn to adapt, take direction, and push creative boundaries Note: While this program is designed for ages 14+, we encourage younger aspiring actors to reach out for alternative options.
